Structure of Course

Composition and General Studies

A candidate shall choose either (a) or (b) for composition for B.A. (General/Honours), B.Sc (General/Honours) and B.Com (General/Honours) for each of the Part I and Part II examinations.

  1. Hindi – one full paper of 100 marks composition
  2. Hindi – one paper of 50 marks and any one of the following languages (50 marks): English, Bangla, Santali, Urdu and Maithili.
  3. Provided that a candidate of non-Indian domicile may take a full paper in English (higher standard) in view of (a) and (b) above.

A candidate shall have to offer General Studies instead of composition for Part III examination of B.A. (General & Honours) or B.Sc (General & Honours) courses.

Combinations

B.Sc (General) Course: A student might be offered one of the following combinations for B.Sc (General) course in addition to compositions and general studies as given in earlier section.
 a) Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics
 b) Chemistry, Botany and Zoology

B.Sc (Honours) Course: An eligible student might be offered Honours in one of the following subjects: Chemistry, Physics, Botany, Zoology and Mathematics.

B.A. (General) Course: An eligible student may opt for any three subjects as given below in addition to Composition and General Studies as explained in earlier section – Economics, History, Political Science, Philosophy, Psychology, Mathematics, English, Hindi, Bengali, Urdu, Maithili, Santali and Sanskrit.

Kindly note that no two literature subjects can be opted. A student may take Sanskrit, Hindi, Bangla, Urdu, Maithili or Santali in place of English in B.A. (General) course as one of the combination.

B.A. (Honours) Course: An eligible student might be offered Honours in one of the following subjects – English, Hindi, Bangla, Urdu, Maithili, Sanskrit, Santali, Economics, Political Science, Philosophy, History, Mathematics and Psychology.

B. Com (General) Course: An eligible student might be offered the following combinations for B.Com (General) course in addition to Combination and General Studies as explained in earlier section.

Part-I

  • Financial Accounting
  • Business Economics
  • Principles of Business Management

Part-II

  • Corporate Accounting
  • Auditing
  • Money and Financial System

Part-III

  • Group “A” – Cost Accounting, Income Tax, Business Studies, OR
  • Group “B” – Business Communication, Business Environment, Business Statistics

B. Com (Honours) Course: An eligible student might be offered Honours in the following subjects/groups:

  • Group “A” – Accounting and Finance
  • Group “B” - Marketing
